As a full-time stone sculptor based in the Cotswolds, Martin’s work celebrates the characteristics of predominantly British stone to create a wide variety of unique pieces.
Martin has not traveled the normal artist’s route but committed to spend years developing the traditional stone skills he uses in his contemporary sculpture. This enables him to create beautiful and unique forms: his work is widely is recognised in sales, art exhibitions and art societies.
The breadth and variety in Martin’s figurative and abstract pieces are unusual and reflects his desire to explore and create form that reflect current issues, experiences, a fleeting image or even the stone itself.
His goal is to create unique, handmade pieces of lasting sculpture that reflect high quality craftsmanship. Irrespective of whether the work is figurative or abstract he aims to inspire consideration, a smile or just the desire to touch and enjoy the texture, weight and temperature of stone.
