Allan Mackenzie
Born in Kingston Upon Thames, Allan trained in graphic and commercial art at Worthing College of Design, West Sussex. After a career in construction, Allan entered the world of sculpture full time in 2010 after a client, who was a sculptor, gave Allan a block of clay. In his East Sussex studio, Allan creates sculpture in a range of mediums, primarily forming in clay and casting in cold metals. Allan exhibits with the Royal Horticultural Society, National Trust, The Crown Estate and private collections both in the UK and abroad including Europe and New Zealand.
Allan’s latest collection reflects human expression observing activities of the everyday adding humour and exaggerated drama bringing his figures to life as they sit above the garden plants keeping a watchful eye over all things that grow. Allan focuses on creating sculpture that fits into a garden of any size giving sculpture a place of permanence within the landscape.
