I work mostly with insect forms, fish and flowers and birds. I like the colour contrast resulting from using mild steel, treated to turn a rich brown and then sealed in protective oil, and the bright stainless steel which reflects the light. I use a distinctive mix of rod and construction fixings, but am best known for my use of cutlery, which is a fun addition as well as introducing another texture and beautiful, highly reflective finish. I enjoy the challenge of taking existing materials, with their inherent properties, and using them in new effect in my pieces.
My style varies from occasionally industrial and robotic qualities, to the lyrical, elegant forms of the flower stems and birds. I like to introduce movement when possible, and most of my pieces are designed to behave naturally and sway in the breeze.
