Middle Barton is a village school of 120 pupils where they have an art curriculum so we are funding termly whole school workshops, an after school art club, prizes for a termly art competition and teacher training.

  • Whole School Workshop

In April ’22 artists Emma Cox and Abigail Boisot worked with the whole school to deliver a charcoal drawing workshop.  Inspired by birds the children could come up with their own design (‘there are no mistakes’) and they were pinned to a tree in a whole school display for all to see.

Children and staff have been very positive about the workshops and parents have told us their children have been inspired to continue doing art at home.  Out of the mouths of babes: “I can’t wait to get home and start drawing”. “I wish we could do this everyday” “This doesn’t feel like school as it’s so much fun”. “I loved using the charcoal without reproachful adults worrying about our cleaness (sic)”.

In December ’22 artist Caroline Bond paid a special visit at the request of the school to help everyone make their Christmas decoration to take home for the holidays.  A festive treat all round!

In the spring term of ’23 artist Abigail Boisot will run a watercolour workshop for the whole school teaching the techniques and creative wonder of this popular medium.

  • After school club

Artist Caroline Bond has been working hard with the after school art club since Sept ’22 through to the spring of ’23 to create their sculpture for the next Sculpture at Kingham Lodge public show from 20-29th May 2023.  ‘There be dragons about!’

  • Teacher Training

In Jan ’23 artist Caroline Bond has been invited in by the staff to deliver training to bolster the confidence and techniques of the staff to deliver the best art experience they can to the children.
